ADVOCACY UPDATE: Senate panel pushes forward key funding for Lyme

From the Center for Lyme Action:

The Senate Appropriations Committee met last week and approved the following increases that impact Lyme, alpha-gal, and other tick-borne diseases:

——- +$1M for Kay Hagan Tick Act

——- +$10M NIH Lyme and tick borne disease research setting the new minimum spend to $110M

——- $5M LymeX specifically to be managed by the HHS Office of the Chief Technology Officer

——- $27M CDC Lyme Disease

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Labor HHS Appropriations Bill on July 31 with a vote of 26-3. This bill is awaiting further action in the full Senate.

The House is expected to take a different approach to Fiscal Year 2026 funding, with their version tentatively scheduled for consideration in September.

Overall this is a wonderful result given the very difficult appropriations climate in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to all! And thank you for your advocacy!
