NEWS: Phyllis Mervine honored for her Lyme advocacy
Phyllis Mervine, who 23 years ago founded the organization that has evolved into LymeDisease.org, has been honored by the American Institute for Public Service for her advocacy work for Lyme patients. According to the Institute, Jefferson Award recipients “are ordinary people who do extraordinary things without expectation of recognition or reward.”
She is shown in the photo with Sam Beard, who co-founded the Jefferson Awards in 1972 with Jacqueline Kennedy Onnasis and Sen. Robert Taft, Jr. She and other award-winners were recently given medals at a banquet in San Francisco.
